About The Connect
At The Connect, we believe every student deserves personalized support, mentorship, and real-world learning experiences. Founded by passionate educators with backgrounds in special education, counseling, and psychology, we saw the challenges non-traditional learners face and created a thriving community where homeschool and virtual students gain confidence, build skills, and prepare for a successful future.

Our Founders' Journey
At The Connect, our journey began with two passionate educators—former special education teachers who later became a school counselor and a school psychologist. With years of experience in student development, mental health, and individualized learning, they recognized the need for a more personalized approach to education for homeschool and virtual students.

Why The Connect Was Created?
Through their work, they saw firsthand the challenges non-traditional learners face, from limited social interaction to gaps in career guidance and life skills training. They realized that students needed more than just academics—they needed mentorship, connection, and real-world learning opportunities to thrive.

A study published in The Journal of Educational Psychology found that virtual learners tend to experience fewer social interactions, which can negatively impact their social development and emotional well-being. Approximately 70% of students in virtual settings reported feeling isolated or disconnected from their peers.

Stats That Drove The Connect Forward

Executive function skills, like time management and organization, are often impacted in virtual learning environments due to reduced structure and lack of face-to-face support. A report from The National Education Policy Center found that 34% of virtual learners struggle with planning, prioritizing tasks, and maintaining focus.
A significant percentage of college students struggle with career and college planning, with many entering college undecided, changing majors, and experiencing doubts about their chosen path. 42% of students lacked confidence or were only slightly confident in their chosen career or education; 37% of the graduates—regardless of their current education or career—are still not sure they are where they want to be.
